With deep sadness the Long Island Library Conference Committee mourns the passing of Deidre Goode.
She was the 2015 Chairperson of the Long Island Library Conference.
Diedre was the Department Head of Children’s Services of the Great Neck Library and received her Master of Library and Information Science from Queens College.
We will remember Deidre’s vibrant spirit, wonderful sense of humor and her signature laugh.
For the last several weeks, the Nassau and Suffolk County Library Associations and the Long Island Library Conference Committee have been monitoring the coronavirus outbreak, hoping it would be possible to hold the Long Island Library Conference on schedule and safely.
Unfortunately, we have had to cancel this year’s conference in order to ensure the health and safety of our community of attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and supporters. We hope that all program speakers, vendors, and registrants will adjust their schedules and be with us on Thursday, May 13th 2021 at the Melville Marriott. Should the new date not permit your participation, please contact the committee.
We thank you for your patience during these challenging times and appreciate your cooperation. The Committee looks forward to seeing you next year and is putting renewed energy into planning a great conference.

Be part of the 2020 conference, where New York’s library community will be discussing A Vision for the Future.
The 2020 Long Island Library Conference will be on May 14, 2020 at the Melville Marriott. The Conference Committee invites program proposals on all areas of librarianship. We are especially interested in proposals that align with the 2020 theme, “A Vision for the Future”
Conference programs should be 60 minutes long, with the anticipation of 45 minutes of content, and 10 minutes of Q&A.

The Long Island Library Conference Committee will evaluate all proposals submitted by the deadline using the following criteria:

Other Important Guidelines
INTERNET: Wireless Internet will be provided in all program rooms.
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS: The Long Island Library Conference Committee does not make travel arrangements for speakers and presenters. Presenters and/or the sponsors are responsible for making these arrangements.
SPEAKER REGISTRATION FEES: Only 2 presenters from each program will receive complimentary registration. These complementary presenters DO NOT have to register for the conference through the website. Their names will be given directly to registration by the Programs Chair. All other presenters beside the complimentary 2 are required to register for the conference and pay the appropriate registration fee.
EQUIPMENT: The Marriott will provide internet access and items such as projectors, screens, microphones, tables, lecterns, etc. Laptops will not be provided. Speakers or sponsors will be required to bring their own laptops. Speakers will be responsible for providing ANY adapters, dongles, cables OR other accessories necessary for the connection of their equipment.
SPONSOR: All programs for the conference require a sponsoring group (individual libraries and companies cannot sponsor programs).
